CAREER:                                                                                                                        1989-1992:                                                                                                                     Employed by Japan Airlines (JAL) and trained as a structural engineer; later worked in the Airframe Group, Systems Engineering Office, JAL Engineering Department where he researched the structural integrity of transport aircraft.
