CAREER:

1980-1981: Completed US Army Aviator training and designated Army Aviator

1981-1984: Aeroscout Platoon Leader & Operations Office, 3rd Armoured Division aviation battalion, Germany

1984-1987: Completed a graduate programme

1987-1992: Served a four-year assignment at NASA JSC, Houston, Texas, assigned as a Shuttle launch and landing operations engineer, a pilot in the SAIL and Chief of the Operations Eevelopment Office, FCOD.

1992-1993: Student, USN Test Pilot School

1993-1994: Test Pilot and Flight Test Division Chief, Army Airworthiness Qualification Test Directorate, Edwards AFB, California.

1995-1996: Attended Naval War College. He has now logged over 2500 hrs flying time

1996: (01.05)  Selected as a Mission Specialist Candidate Group 16; (Aug) commenced a 2-year Ascan training programme; Ascan training

1997: Ascan training

1998: Ascan training; (Aug 98) graduated; assigned technical duties in the CB Spacecraft Systems/Operations Branch; Shuttle mission support; (Nov 16) named MS2/FE STS-101; Shuttle mission training

1999: Shuttle mission training

2000: Shuttle mission training; (18:02) re-named MS2/FE revised STS-101 mission (ISS logistics and re-supply); Shuttle mission training; (19-29.05) flew as MS2/FE STS-101 (3rd ISS docking) (2.37 hrs 10 min); CB technical assignments

2001: CB Technical assignments since his first spaceflight have included: serving in the EVA Branch of the CB; as Co-Chair of the Space Shuttle Cockpit Council; temporary assignment at NASA HQ in support of legislative affairs; assignment to ISS Operations Division.

2002: CBN technical assignments; (Jul) Commanded a 9 day undersea NEEMO expedition from the NOAA Aquarius habitat off the cost of Florida; (early Nov) commenced ISS resident crew training; (23.12) named BUp Station commander ISS-10; ISS resident crew training

2003: ISS-10 mission training; ISS resident crew training; (Feb) ISS crews stood down pending recovery from loss of Columbia; ISS generic resident crew training; (Dec) assigned BUp Cdr ISS-12 and CDR ISS-14; resident crew training;

2004: ISS long duration training

2005: ISS long duration training (14.09) named BUp ISS-12 Cdr & NASA Science Office; ISS resident crew training ;( 01.10) BUp FE TMA-7; ISS resident crew training

2006: (05.01) named ISS-13 FE and NASA Science Office; ISS resident crew training; (30.03- 29.09) flew as ISS-13 FE /NASA Science Office (4389 hrs 43 min); completed two EVAs totalling 12 hrs 25 min; EVA1 (02.06) 6 hr 31 min; EVA2 (03.08) 5 hr 54 min

2007: CB technical assignments; (Jun) retired from US Army with rank of Colonel, continues NASA service as a civilian astronaut; CB technical assignments

2008: CB technical assignments; (Jul) reports indicate he would replace Shannon Walker n ISS-19 BUp crew; ISS resident crew training; (21.09) appoint to TMA-16/ISS-21/22 confirmed by Russians; (21.11) NASA names him to ISS-21/22 crew as FE Soyuz TMA-16/ISS-21 FE/ISS-22 Commander); ISS resident crew training

2009: ISS resident crew training; (26.03) BUP FE Soyuz TMA-14; ISS resident crew training; (30.09) launched as FE Soyuz TMA-16; (02.10) docked to ISS; IN SPACE
